To many of us women of colour, our hair and beauty is something we take pride in. The precious hair and beauty awards ceremony due to take place in June 2017. It’s an amazing platform for women of colour who have created beauty products and services from their kitchen tables, shining a bright light on those who have managed to grow innovative and successful brands.
The awards will focus on five categories: Best Haircare Brand, Best Makeup Colour Cosmetics Brand, Best Skincare, Best Online Innovation brand and the People’s Choice Best Beauty/Hair Blogger Award – with an open voting system via Precious Facebook. The award ceremony was Founded by Foluke Akinlose MBE in 2007 to celebrate the achievements of women of colour in business and leadership.
In the past, the event has formed partnerships with brands such as Barclays and Credit Suisse to name a few. Founder Foluke is extremely successful within her field of work. Speaking to the huffingtonpost.co.uk she reports, in 2008 I was named in the top 100 in Courvoisier’s “The Future 500” a list of the country’s top achievers across ten wide-ranging categories. Aside from this, she has also received serval impressive recognitions as a result of her hard work and dedication.
This year the hair and beauty awards are powered by Premae.Premae is the world’s very first allergy free skincare brand for women of all colour. The brand was founded by Dr Clare Anyiam-Osigwe BEM.
Dr Clare will be a judge in this year’s award ceremony alongside Florence Adepoju founder of MDM Flow, Latenda Kalimba a credible trichologist expert and Lizzie loves, a successful Youtuber with currently 98k subscribers.
The shortlist will be announced in May 2017 at a Precious Networking event hosted at Wah London, Soho.
